PDF Reader does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Your PDFs, bookmarks, highlights, notes, and reading progress are stored locally on your device only. No account or sign-in is required.
The Scan tool uses your camera to capture document pages directly into a PDF. The Image → PDF tool lets you pick photos to convert into a PDF. Both happen entirely on your device — no image ever leaves your device through these features.
Scanned pages and the PDF → Text tool use Apple's on-device Vision framework to recognize text. This processing happens entirely on your device; no scanned content is sent to any server.
The app has placeholders for an AI Explain feature and an AI note-organizing feature. These are not active in the current version and do not make any network request. Once enabled in a future update, using them will send the text you select, or your notes, to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a response. This policy will be updated when that feature ships.
This app does not currently use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services, and makes no network requests. The only third-party service it will ever contact is Anthropic's Claude API, and only if you use the AI features described above once they are enabled.
This app requests access to your camera (to scan documents) and your photo library (to import images as a PDF). It does not request access to your microphone, location, or contacts.
